You don't need this much silk. You want to print most of your PLA prints using basic or matte, not shiny stuff. Shiny stuff is great for specific uses and things that actually look good with it, for anything else use matte.

He's right. Silk will emphasize the lines and mistakes of the print, while matte will hide most of them. Matte filaments make the prints look like pottery before the glaze.
