BJ's membership stands out for warehouse savings that can be especially strong on gas, store-brand coffee, deli items, and occasional stackable or double coupons. The app supports Scan and Go checkout and can surface item coupons while shopping, which helps avoid missing discounts. Compared with Costco and Sam's Club, the club is often less crowded and may require smaller quantities, though prices can run higher on many groceries and the coupon clipping workflow is tedious. Gas quality concerns and renewal charges are also worth keeping in mind, making it a practical fit if the nearby perks matter most.
Drivers who buy fuel regularly, because the local gas price can be low enough to justify the membership.
Shoppers who want to skip the checkout line, because scan-and-go lets them scan items while shopping and walk out without using registers.
Households that buy warehouse quantities of groceries, because the club requires bulk buying and can offer double coupons on changing sale items.
Members who stock up on store-brand staples, because the house coffee and other comparable basics can be cheaper than rival warehouse brands.
Shoppers who want everyday grocery prices without bulk quantities, because prices can be higher than Lidl or Aldi and the club requires buying in bulk.
People who dislike managing digital coupons, because the app can require weekly clipping of hundreds of offers and remembering them at checkout.
Drivers who need Top Tier certified fuel, because the gas is not certified and can be associated with engine carbon buildup concerns.
California shoppers who need delivery, because the membership does not ship to California.

I was going to to BJ's gas every fill-up until I started having problems. I'm a mechanic & it took me some diagnosing to narrow it down to excessive carbon buildup.
Coincidence? Maybe, but I only use Top Tier fuel in my vehicles now.
