If you don't like Pokemon then I don't see why you would buy it, but I grew up with Pokemon and there are many classic monsters that are featured in the game, making it so I didn't feel alienated seeing a bunch of new monsters I wasn't familiar with.
I should've known as it's more focused on building and I was into DQB more for exploring and fighting. I was into AC more for collecting fish, fossils, etc. I never really cared for building the best town which explains why I never cared for Minecraft.
