This Yoga 7i open box stands out as a thin 16 inch 2 in 1 with a strong Intel Ultra 7 chip and enough everyday speed for web browsing, office work, streaming, and light use. The 16GB of non upgradable memory is the main concern, especially for gaming or heavier multitasking, where the integrated graphics can eat into system RAM. The 1920 by 1200 60Hz 300 nit IPS touch screen is the other weak point, with brightness and resolution drawing the most criticism. A practical pick if the price fits your needs and the display limits are acceptable.

Common Questions (5)

  • 16GB is enough for web browsing, office work, and streaming, and it can be fine for a $600 everyday laptop. It becomes limiting for heavier multitasking or gaming because the RAM is non-upgradable and the integrated graphics also share system memory.

  • The display is a 16-inch 1920x1200 WUXGA IPS touch panel at 60Hz and 300 nits. The main complaint is that it is not 3K or 120Hz and the 300-nit brightness is considered weak for modern use.

  • It can output to two external monitors, but three did not work in one report. A USB-C to dual-HDMI setup may help if you need more display outputs.

  • Not always; one open-box unit was missing the charger. That makes it worth checking the included accessories before buying.

  • Yes, one report got 4K 60Hz 8-bit RGB through the HDMI port even though the specs list HDMI 1.4b. That suggests the port may perform better than the listed spec implies.

I have 16gb laptops that do web browsing, office tasks, and streaming no problem with 16gb. If the minimum was 32gb of ram, there wouln't be any affordable laptops.
This 2-year old CPU is on people's radar because of its particularly strong integrated graphics. So most buyers are looking to do light/medium gaming on it. Since it's integrated, it borrows system RAM to use as VRAM. Most contemporary games want 8GB of VRAM. So to use this for gaming, you're going to have to split up the RAM as 8 GB VRAM, 8 GB system RAM.

That's why people consider 16GB to be too little for this. Every time you want to game, you'll probably end up having to close all other programs, drop into BIOS, reconfigure the VRAM amount, then restart. Then after the gaming session, you'll have to repeat it again to switch the VRAM back into system RAM. It's a hassle. 24GB is much more comfortable, since you can just leave it configured with 8 GB of VRAM and still have 16 GB of system RAM all the time.

What a shame that such strong chip coming with a mere 16GB of non-upgradable RAM...
The shame is 2026 pricing. A year ago I bought almost the same machine with 32GB of ram and a 258V....for $200 less.

that's probably why people are returning and they're on sale as open box. my Acer laptop with a dedicated graphics card constantly consumes 24gb, so I don't know how people get by with 16gb. sure it can use swap but still.

I purchased this item in excellent condition but with a 1TB drive from Best Buy in December of last year for $350. Gave it to my brother as a Christmas gift - he loves it.
Me too. 350 before tax but it was missing a charger. I still kept it.
What's funny is hdmi port is rated at 1.4b under the specs.. however I'm getting 4k 60hz 8bit rgb via its hdmi port. How is that even possible I do not know. Lastly,
3 external monitor didn't work. I could only manage to get 2 monitors out only. It might work If you have usb c to dual hdmi out.

Well my argument to that is, not everyone games on their thin and light laptop and needs the extra ram. This laptop has options for more ram but it's going to cost more. Not EVERYONE needs more than 16GB of ram so having a cheaper option with 16GB and a more expensive option with 24 or 32GB gives people more options and basic users don't have to pay extra for performance they will never need. Just because it doesn't suit your needs, doesn't mean that it doesn't suit someone else's. Out of the approximately 40 family members in my extended family who have laptops, I would say maybe 1 or 2 have played a game on them so for the average buyer this isn't an issue. If you do need the extra ram, then just buy the SAME thing with more ram, it's not like it doesn't exist. I got my Lenovo Slim 7i with the same CPU and 32GB of ram for $598 open box excellent last year so it's not like there aren't options for more ram.
