The ram is fine. The real shame is the 1920x1200, 60Hz, 300 nit screen. I can't believe they charge $1200 for that full price. That is a total rip off.

Cannot forget the tarrifs, we're paying that extra tax on just about everything.

This Yoga 7i open box stands out as a thin 16 inch 2 in 1 with a strong Intel Ultra 7 chip and enough everyday speed for web browsing, office work, streaming, and light use. The 16GB of non upgradable memory is the main concern, especially for gaming or heavier multitasking, where the integrated graphics can eat into system RAM. The 1920 by 1200 60Hz 300 nit IPS touch screen is the other weak point, with brightness and resolution drawing the most criticism. A practical pick if the price fits your needs and the display limits are acceptable.

  • The open-box unit reportedly arrived in excellent condition and supported a later 1TB drive upgrade for $350.

    The_Gaff

  • The 16GB RAM configuration reportedly handles web browsing, office tasks, and streaming without issues.

    dlinders10

  • The integrated graphics setup may still support light or medium gaming by allocating shared system RAM as VRAM.

    Solandri

  • The HDMI behavior reportedly enabled 4K 60Hz 8-bit RGB output even though the listed HDMI spec was 1.4b.

    FaithfulGame3171

  • The system uses non-upgradable 16GB RAM, which can feel limiting for a strong Intel Ultra 7 configuration.

    richblood

  • The 1920x1200 60Hz 300-nit touch display reportedly disappoints due to brightness and refresh-rate limitations.

    sillywabbittwix

  • The 300-nit brightness level reportedly feels unacceptable for modern standards and can be a dealbreaker for office use.

    I_like_feet

  • Some open-box units reportedly ship with missing accessories and limited external monitor support, requiring USB-C to dual HDMI workarounds.

I purchased this item in excellent condition but with a 1TB drive from Best Buy in December of last year for $350. Gave it to my brother as a Christmas gift - he loves it.

16 isn't fine these days, but with prices being what they are, we have to live with it or pay the additional tax. Of course, many people will buy one of these for someone who would be just as good with a chromebook. A $600 web browser.

I have 16gb laptops that do web browsing, office tasks, and streaming no problem with 16gb. If the minimum was 32gb of ram, there wouln't be any affordable laptops.

Crazy!

Yesteryear's open box price ($350) was almost half the price of today's open box ($648).

Luckily I bought a new laptop at the end of last year. I would have never have known computer prices balloon so much.

This is the only negative:

"1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) 60Hz 300nits LCD IPS Touch Display"

Not at least 3K, not 120Hz, only 300 nits, and IPS panel.

Late summer of '25, 8GB version of this with an 8640HS for $200. Since it's not a main machine, still does this job. RAMageddon sucks.

For office task 16 is fine, not ideal, but I could overlook it if the screen wasn't a slap in the face. 300 nits is not acceptable these days, I gave my niece A Lenovo yoga 2 years ago with a 300 nit screen, I won't do her dirty like that again. The next laptop I get her will have 400 minimum.
