I personally own this headset and I think it's fine for a wireless headset. The audio quality is on par with most wireless headsets I've used and I've never had an issue with anyone complaining about mic quality. The most annoying part of this headset is that it does not come with Bluetooth. It's either wired in or a proprietary wireless adapter is needed. If you lose it that's another 20-25 to replace. Another factor that could be a downside is the icue software that is required to edit/fine tune the headset. It mostly works and is fine but I have a personal grudge against corsair software. I find it relatively comfortable (I have a big head and some headsets are too tight) but it also accommodates smaller heads just fine thanks to its adjustable headband strap thing.
I bought the max version for 2 years and it randomly disconnects every ~2 hours and the only way to re-connect it is to unplug the 2.4Ghz dongle and re-plug it back. did some search and found this problem quite common among hs80/max series. latest firmware still doesn't work.
annoying as hell especially during games. contacted corsair and they did RMA but the problem persists. I just then bought a usb extension cord with an on-off switch. audio quality is good with dolby atmos
