This Samsung Crystal UHD is a budget big screen that works best for general TV watching, especially when paired with an Apple TV or other streamer. The picture is described as fine to decent for the price, and Costco's included extended warranty adds value. The main tradeoffs are the 60 hertz panel, which is less ideal for sports and gaming, plus the basic Tizen software, glare in bright rooms, and a remote with limited buttons. It feels like a solid everyday set if you are not chasing premium picture quality.

Common Questions (4)

  • The built-in apps can run poorly or feel sluggish, so an external streamer like an Apple TV 4K can make it a much better streaming setup. The TV is still fine as a general display, but the native software is a weak point.

  • The biggest complaints are limited picture quality compared with better budget TVs, possible glare in bright rooms, no voice remote, no optical audio out, and a basic remote with few buttons. It is still considered acceptable for general viewing, especially when paired with a better streamer.

  • Yes, it is a 60Hz TV. That is usually fine for general TV watching, but it can be noticeable on a large screen during sports or action scenes, and it is not a great choice for gaming.

  • Yes, Costco includes free extended warranty coverage plus 3 years. That warranty is a major reason some shoppers consider this deal worthwhile even if the TV itself is only average.

I'm on my 3rd Samsung in over 20 years. They last. The only reason I bought new ones was to upgrade technology and size. Strayed and bought a Sharp which was my first 4k. Beautiful pic.....fried after 2 years.

Really good deal for the person that just needs a big screen TV to watch their shows or throw on a video game and isn't concerned with the picture quality looking peak.

Dayum. Can't believe how inexpensive "flat screen" TV's have become. My first plasma was a 42 inch Panasonic plasma that cost... $8000. My last TV was a 50 inch Panasonic plasma that I'm watching right now. Purchased in 2014 for $1050, the last of the plasmas.... still works great.

Wonder if these $370 units will still be working a dozen years from now... LOL
Had 2 50" Samsung Crystal TVs... one lasted 4.5 years, the other 5 years. One of them had very little use.

My fiancé bought the 85" version of this tv, wasn't thrilled about it but I dialed the picture in and it's really not that bad, esp for price. Only do general tv watching on it, no gaming. Once we co-habitat it's gonna be an OLED taking its place lol

For $370, fine, but this really is a crappy TV if your eyes are tuned in any way to things like picture quality, color accuracy, blooming.

QM6K pro at Costco is more, but 65" goes on sale for $500 and man is that a way better budget TV set with actual dimming zones, better colors and brightness, and even an anti reflective coating...

Also to add, disregard any brand name at this price point, it's all basically the same quality.

Guy on YouTube, Tech Steve, does pretty good reviews on TV's. Samsung's "U", followed by increasing 4 digit number, series, looks like its at 8000 currently, are the base models, tech usually a bit lacking, lacking a few features, but not in any way that's limiting. I opted for one model up, dont know what the series is currently, but they're usually about $50‐$70 more for same size, tech is practically current, no limitations. Either the base, or one model up, are very slick deals when on sale.

For the privacy conscious; Samsung has a pretty crap privacy record(though there aren't m(any) OEMS, they recently settled with the state of Texas(!) and agreed to make their mass harvesting opt-in and have a class-action pending this month for years of data gobbling people who clicked through ambiguously or euphemistically named "Improved advertisements" during setup without reading 400 pages of legalese. Some of these can now be manually disabled, but unless you are someone who knows how to control your home network traffic, or understand what the microphone in your TV is recording, or why Samsung and others are pushing you towward using an application instead of having a decently functioning remote, it's all about advertising revenue--and you're the product.

Until a manufacturer allows better hardware and software control, I'm going to keep rocking my 2015 flatscreen that's just a dumb display. Wouldn't mind paying $1,000 for a new screen if I had total control and transparency it wasn't working for someone else's interests after I pay for it.

Is this same model in 55 inch for $200 a good deal? I currently have a Sony Bravia xbr-65x650d that would be replaced in the bedroom.
