The Descent is a claustrophobic cave horror film that stands out for its tense, hopeless atmosphere, strong sound and set design, and a gut punch ending that sticks with you. The gore stays intense without breaking immersion, and the movie is especially effective if you are claustrophobic. The sequel gets a nod too, though the main draw here is the original. The main caveat is version confusion, since the unrated and standard editions are different titles and the film has both UK and US endings.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes. The $3.99 price is Prime-member only, and you must be logged into an active Prime account for the discount to apply.

  • Yes. The rated and unrated versions are different titles, so it is possible to repurchase the movie if you already own the other edition.

  • Yes. The deal listing says the film is Movies Anywhere compatible, so you can connect your preferred digital retailer and stream it there after purchase.

  • Yes. The movie has two endings: a UK/Director's cut ending and a US version ending.

Wouldn't that be the case for any advertised movie, lol? Like, knowing or checking to see if you already own it?
Kinda but being this and the unrated versions are different titles some may purchase this thinking they may not already have it.

I personally rank The Descent as the most terrifying creature movie ever made.

What are your thoughts on Pandorum in that regard? Compared to The Descent

A lot of people hated the sequel. But I actually enjoyed it as well. Did you know the sequel is available in 4k now?
Yup - Lionsgate actually put out 4k steelbooks for both movies and I happily own both ^_^

I'm confused. Is this the theatrical or unrated/director's cut? At CheapCharts they show iTunes having theatrical in HD and unrated in 4K, but did they do 4K for both? Also, buying the unrated doesn't also get you the theatrical as well, does it? I hate that they break alternate cuts into separate SKUs when discs used to be able to do branching or streamers offer the alternate cuts as extras.
