Panasonic eneloop AAA batteries are valued as long lasting rechargeable cells that work well in most AA and AAA devices, with the main appeal being dependable everyday use and a strong cycle life. The packaging says Made in Japan, and the standard line is favored over the Pro line for its much higher cycle count, while the Pro version is described as higher capacity but shorter lived. The main cautions are the 1.2 volt output versus 1.5 volt alkalines, possible low battery indicator quirks, and the risk of counterfeit stock on Amazon. A solid rechargeable option if you want reliable AAA power without disposable batteries.

  • The batteries are 1.2V rather than 1.5V, so some devices may not run as expected.

  • Battery-level indicators or low-battery warnings may not work properly with NiMH eneloops.

  • Counterfeit risk on Amazon can be significant, especially when the listing changes sellers.

  • Some eneloop Pro AAA batteries reportedly stop charging on the official charger after around 50 cycles.

The last pack of eneloop AAA batteries I bought do not seem to hold a charge very well, at least not like they used to.
Is the quality headed downhill like so many other products???

Apparently there is a significant difference in quality between Japanese produced Eneloops and Chinese produced Eneloops. Long ago they were all Japanese. You can find which you have by looking at product codes.

Sadly there is a very good chance that you got counterfeits. I've been burned twice buying from Amazon.

Just keep in mind, these are 1.2V, not the standard 1.5V. Will work in some devices, will not in others.

Been using these for literally over a decade and really prefer these over any other rechargeable. The pro line seems to offer a bit better performance (at a cost, of course) as I'm slowly switching over as the older ones age out.

I've gotten over my rechargeable fascination, and eneloop is one of the best. So many devices don't perform well with the lower voltage, and the capacity is lower than an equivalent alkaline making changes/charging an annoyance in devices that that have to be paired and reset to work.

nimh batteries will have 1.2v vs alkaline at 1.5v. lithium ion can give 1.5v, but it has it own issues like 1000 charge cyclese vs nimh 2000 charge cycles

Make sure its sold by Amazon and not a 3rd party. Fake eneloops are everywhere and the listing flips sellers sometimes.
