This Insignia 45W wall charger kit stands out as a compact USB C phone charger that includes a braided cable and charges fast. The bundled cable is the main draw, and the charger is described as a solid, good value deal for everyday phone charging. The cable marketing is disputed, though, since the included lead is treated as a standard USB C cable rather than a truly special high speed one. Compatibility concerns also come up for Samsung S25 style high speed charging, which depends on PPS support and a 5A cable.

  • The kit can charge phones and tablets quickly when paired with the included cable.

  • The charger can reach its rated maximum output using a compatible USB-C cable at 15V and 3A.

  • The included cable is described as a higher-speed charging cable in at least some purchases.

  • Braided cable construction is favored for backup charging setups.

  • The "high speed" cable claim may be misleading because the cable is described as a standard USB-C cable that does not inherently enable faster-than-45W charging.

  • The kit's included cable may not satisfy PPS or 5A requirements for certain Samsung S25 "high speed" charging scenarios.

  • Insignia chargers have reportedly bricked after about a week, creating reliability concerns.

  • The deal may be less attractive if shoppers compare it to buying two CCP units separately, since the freebie cable can make the effective price feel doubled.

Routine deals sell two CCP units for the same price or a couple bucks more. Just saying, you're paying double still to get that freebie cable.
In my experience the quality of the cable can affect charging speeds greatly.

Technically this isn't a "high speed" cable. It's a standard cable.

All USB-C cables can do 3 Amp charging. This is why standard cables are 60W (20V * 3 Amp).

Faster charge cables come in 100W, 140W, and 240W.

Not for this charger. It maxes out below any thresholds that would matter on. See my reply one comment up for all the details there.

The charger matters because it invokes PD charging above 15W. But all C-to-C cables can do 45W at this charger's max if 15V * 3 Amp.

Hence, there's nothing really special about this cable.

Anybody else having trouble ordering online? I've spent the last 3.5 hours trying to order this charger using four different browsers, a PC, a Chromebook and a mobile phone. Seems that BestBuy's system is broken.

The cable is 5A. Their high speed is not your high speed. Theirs is the 45W charging "high speed". The data transfer speed is only the USB 2.0 standard.

Regardless of if the cable is 5A or not, it doesn't impact this charger. That only is useful if you use another charger with the included cable, which most won't generally do that.

Context matters, the original reply was that having a high speed cable helps with scenarios like this one. It does not with anything you would use with this charger. And one could argue Best Buy is being a bit deceptive there by omitting that with the marketing combo.

I bought one last week at $15. Now I have to buy another at $11. So my net price is $13 each.

The Samsung S25 generation phones tablets have to have a 5A cable to achieve "high speed" (only 45W anyway) charging. The charging brick has to support PPS.

While there are PPS/AVS scenarios that applies to, once again, it does not apply to this charger. And I'll just refer to my prior post about why that is pivotal to this pairing, and the arguable deception.

Because a lot of people are going to think that this is a 5 amp charger that will do that now.
