Now, I haven't printed anything on my AD5x as a stock printer in a while, but according to at least one facebook post https://www.facebook.co
Now, switching over to Zmod's Bambufy Wipe Tower Type 1, there would be 690 filament changes. This is a huge difference compared to stock AD5x (tested both on Orca and Flash Studio). Presuming that Bambufy purges the same filament weight, that would be 171.81g total, or 44.077g saved just using Zmod. I went and measured out 10g of purge out of my poop basket, and then counted how many pieces that was; I ended up with 47 purged bits, so that was an average of 0.213g per purge, using the Bambufy Wipe Tower Type 1. 0.213g x 690 = 146.809g, or 69.078g saved over stock. If you go with Wipe Tower Type 2 (aka nopoop), I believe the AD5x will not purge at all, relying on the prime tower instead(?). I could test this but have not yet as of this post, but if it does what it says it does, then it would produce 0 purges similar to the Creator 5 and pro.
Almost 70g of saved filament is no joke for just firmware flash, and 215g of filament saved on purges is an even bigger save if you don't have to. But you also have to keep in mind the price of both the AD5x and the Creator 5. Last I checked, the AD5x was going for about $210 on Ali whereas this one is $507. Over double the price. If you pick up 10kg Kingroon filament on sale, that's what, about $7/kg, or $0.007/g. $0.007/g x 215g = $1.51. I'd have to print that Spiderman almost 200 times once per plate to make up the cost of the Creator 5. I wouldn't specifically get a Creator 5 for those kinds of savings, but that's just my opinion (which is why I picked up the Pro).
Hope this helps.
Community Reviews
FLASHFORGE Creator 5 is a four tool multi material printer that stands out for fast multicolor jobs, purgeless tool changes, and the ability to mix filament types in the same print. The larger 256 millimeter bed and separate heads also make it appealing for bigger parts and redundancy if one head needs service. Current firmware is described as slow, and prime towers still add some waste, so the filament savings are not as dramatic as they first seem. Print quality is praised as excellent, making it a strong fit for multicolor and engineering material work.
Common Questions (5)
The Creator 5 uses 4 separate tool heads, so multi-color changes are much faster and avoid filament poop, relying on a prime tower instead. The AD5X uses automatic filament feeding/cutting and is easier to swap nozzles on, but multi-color prints take longer and involve more purge waste.
Yes. Tool changes take about 5 seconds, while filament swaps on the AD5X can take over a minute, so multicolor jobs can finish much faster on the Creator 5. One comparison also estimated roughly a day difference in print time on a large multicolor model.
It avoids purge poop by using tool changes and a prime tower, but it still needs a prime tower for priming. For prints with many color changes, that can save a meaningful amount of waste; for small numbers of changes, the time and waste can be similar to other systems.
Yes, it can handle ABS and other heated-enclosure materials like PA and ASA. It is also being used successfully for multicolor prints, including ABS parts.
Yes. Filament changes are manual, and nozzle access requires removing screws rather than a quick tool-less swap. That makes it less convenient than the AD5X, but it can still be useful for heated-enclosure materials like PA and ASA.

They are both working for me.

I've bought 5M from aliexpress and it's legit, same box as the one sold on their amazon store.
Or the snapmaker U1.
These deals are absolutely killing me though, first snapmaker U1 at $722 and now this.
I would really advise patience here or you will probably have buyers remorse.
As amazing as it is that we all of a sudden have these 4 tool tool changing machines at these prices when just a short while ago a machine that swapped 4 tools was $5,000-6,000 I am still going to wait.
There are so many new machines in the pipeline and launching soon it's going to get really crazy.
I would wait for a machine with more tools.
Your question is trying to compare a single nozzle machine against a tool changer.
Multi color prints will take about twice as long and waste more than twice as much on purge.
The old AMS style multicolor systems are DOA now, tool changers are the new standard.
Unless you are only interested in printing engineering grade materiala and exotics and don't care about colors or multi material prints.
