Community Reviews

Borderlands 4 on PS5 or Xbox Series X lands as a solid action shooter at around $20, with the Super Deluxe edition adding major DLC and extra content. The new vault hunters, bounty packs, raid bosses, takedown, and endgame additions get the strongest praise, and the Xbox version also includes a disc to digital claim. The main caution is that the base game has been called boring by some and the writing is seen as weaker than earlier entries, so it fits best if you plan to play soon and want the fuller package.

Common Questions (4)

  • $19.90 is a reasonable buy-in for Borderlands 4 if you want to play now, and several comments place its value around that price. One caveat is that some players found it boring or not worth the purchase, so it is best for people who expect to start it soon.

  • If you are not planning to play within the next few months, waiting makes sense because an eventual ultimate version with DLC is expected. The game has also been described as likely to get cheaper later, though it may be harder to find at the lowest price.

  • The deal may be for the Super Deluxe Edition, which includes all major DLC. That makes it the better pick if you want the extra content now instead of waiting for a future ultimate edition.

  • The Xbox version is Disc 2 Digital compatible, so you can claim a digital copy from the disc. It is not Play Anywhere, so the license stays limited to Xbox console use.

Xbox version is also Disc 2 Digital compatible, so you get a digital copy to claim. (It's not Play Anywhere, so limited to console only).

If you're not looking to play now, hold out for the "ultimate" version we'll eventually get in the next couple years that includes the DLC. Rumor is the DLC is decent for this one.
it's been out since launch and has been on sale, Super Deluxe Edition.
yeah, I enjoyed the DLCs and the bounty packs. the new vault hunters are the real standout, they're well done and OP as all hell when built up... nod
don't need the Vault Hunter Pack for it, but the raid bosses and the takedown were also enjoyable content. it was a slowwwwwww roll, but they finally made some good end game content.

Isn't that just the super deluxe edition that's available now? I bought it for $40 a couple of months ago. It includes all major DLC.
you are correct sir.

The tough part is do we buy now or hold out just a little longer.

How is this for those who enjoyed BL1, loved BL2, and enjoyed the gameplay of BL3?
I'm a fan of the series and fit your criteria perfectly. I enjoyed BL1, Loved BL2 and liked the gameplay of BL3 (story was lacking but it had moments). I have yet to finish BL4 (about level 35 or so atm). My wife and I play it occasionally. I've liked some of the changes on gameplay, don't like the new inventory system, miss the mini-map for finding my way around, can really tell much about the story (seems kind of forgettable so far). Pros: It's a new borderlands with some cool new polish and features like gliding. The cons: as stated, I miss the minimap and the old inventory system. Don't really care much for most of the powers or characters that I have encountered yet either (Another thing I liked in BL3 was the playable characters and powers) The biggest thing, though is that this has to be the GLITCHIEST game I have ever continued coming back and playing. Sometimes the teleport continues on forever until you try to exit the game. Sometimes things will appear or disappear at random. Sometimes it just has issues loading up in the first place. And on and on

Thank you so much for sharing, it's great that we both align on how we felt about previous entries. It's unfortunate to hear this is the glitchiest one yet. I made the purchase before seeing your comment but wanted to thank you for taking the time. Hopefully some of the glitches can get resolved
