Borderlands 4 on PS5 or Xbox Series X is a solid pick at around $20, especially if you want the base game now and like the series. The gameplay gets praise for new polish, gliding, and stronger endgame content, and the new vault hunters and DLC packs stand out in the Super Deluxe edition. The main knocks are the glitchy performance, a clunky inventory system, and a missing mini map, with some feeling the writing and overall Borderlands feel are weaker than earlier entries. Several comments also point to waiting for an eventual all DLC version if you are not in a hurry.

  • The Super Deluxe Edition includes all major DLC, which can reduce the need for later add-on purchases.

  • The Xbox disc can be used to claim a digital copy, which may make it easier to access the game across sessions.

  • The new vault hunters can feel like a standout feature, especially when builds are developed.

  • The game can offer enjoyable raid bosses and takedown content alongside improved endgame activities.

  • Borderlands 4 can have worse writing and may feel similar to Borderlands 3 rather than capturing Borderlands 2-style appeal.

  • Borderlands 4 can be glitchy, including teleport loops, random item appearance or disappearance, and loading problems.

  • The new inventory system and missing mini-map can make navigation and item management less comfortable.

  • The Xbox disc licensing behavior can tie the digital license to the loaded profile, which can complicate sharing on another console.

The tough part is do we buy now or hold out just a little longer.

How is this for those who enjoyed BL1, loved BL2, and enjoyed the gameplay of BL3?

Honestly, this is my price range to buy so I bought it. Thank you OP. 19 is reasonable. It could potentially drop to $15 on Black Friday but it can be hard to get at that price and then it'll rise to 19~25. I'm happy with $19

I've read that this one is more BL2 than it is BL3 (which is about the best thing one can say), but I know myself well enough to know that if I like this game I'm going to want all of the content (DLC areas and new vault hunters), so I think I'm gonna hold off until there's an ultimate deal for a reasonable price.

Without physical media you'd still be paying at least $35 even at PSN sales events.

If you're not looking to play now, hold out for the "ultimate" version we'll eventually get in the next couple years that includes the DLC. Rumor is the DLC is decent for this one.

I bought it for $30. It was pretty boring. I loved the first few. I regret buying it.

Isn't that just the super deluxe edition that's available now? I bought it for $40 a couple of months ago. It includes all major DLC.

Personally this is the only Borderlands game I haven't finished. Imo it's not that good. BL1 will always be my favorite for the memories, BL2 is technically best, BL3 was a downgrade but had its moments, BL4 was very similar to BL3 with a lot worse writing

It's always the same answer. Is this a game that if you bought now you would play in the next 3 months? If not then your answer is to hold.
This is tempting for me but I still need to get to Tiny Tina that I bought years ago on top of other games.
Honestly, Epic has given away 2, Tiny Tina, and 3... so I am willing to bet at some point they will give away 4 if you can be patient enough.

Thank you and good point. I recently played BL3 a few months ago. I didn't purchase as I had the base game from a while back. I'm going to bite, I'll definitely play within the next 3 months. Thank you again

That's great, ain't no way this game will be cheaper on Black Friday so you can be confident this is the best price it's gonna be for at least the remainder of the year.
