Since the manufacturer is Chinese, I'm willing to bet that it's marketed for hotpot in China (since cheese/chocolate fondue is pretty much unknown there). This appliance is even better than a traditional hotpot because there's a surface for grilling. It's kinda like hotpot plus hibachi to combine Chinese and Japanese cuisines. This is perfect for hot wintery night. In the past, the boiling broth even served to heat the room.
