Component prices are whack right now, as is the sticker price on this laptop. They're going to end up sitting on so much stock that prices are going to reach an equilibrium.

36GB RAM is good for standard dev work. Wait for OLED for better display.

Skip for local AI. Even a 128GB MacBook Pro couldn't load models good enough for my simple project. 256GB+ Mac Studios are expensive.

Google Argon just solved my issue (included in Drive plan).

For any ai work, you will end up chaining RDMA. Ultimately, go with a system that has more memory.

Even 64GB is not enough for local LLM. Save your money for the new models.

$800 off sticker. For reference, in 2021 a M1 Max 14" MBP with 32 core GPU, 64 gb of ram and 1 TB SSD was $3699.

Yeah ram prices are out of whack, but by comparison this ain't bad.
