This 27 inch Samsung Odyssey G7 stands out as a strong value for 4K gaming and everyday use, with sharp text, 144 hertz refresh, and enough screen space for split screen work at 150 percent scaling. The price is especially compelling for a monitor in this class, and the discount programs can make it even cheaper for eligible work, education, or healthcare accounts. The main caveats are color tuning, with reports of washed tones and a yellow cast, and HDR that looks poor until it is disabled. Input switching can also be awkward because it tends to remember the last connected device, so it suits buyers who can live with a little setup tweaking.

  • A courtesy refund of $23 was reportedly available after contacting customer support for a price drop.

  • The monitor can handle split-screen workflows on a 27-inch setup for side-by-side apps.

  • Windows display settings allow resolution scaling down to 1080p or 1440p when needed.

  • Disabling HDR can improve washed or yellow-tinted color performance after adjusting settings.

  • HDR can produce a poor picture with washed colors and a yellow push that requires color adjustment.

  • The monitor's input behavior can be inconvenient because it remembers the last connected device after power off.

  • Resolution scaling down to 1080p or 1440p requires changing settings within Windows display options.

  • EPP and EDU discounts require qualifying emails, so the programs are not available to anyone off the street.

Do you split the screen with a tools like VirtualZones on this? Or is it small enough not to?

my side monitors are 27". I mostly do them in split screen (claude/chrome on left and slack/discord on right) and it's cutting it close but works well for my needs. I'm running them at 150% scale.

I had purchased this 10 days ago at $229 but I was able to talk with customer support and got a courtesy refund of $23 because they couldn't see the price drop in the system for a price match.

I recently got a Acer Nitro 60 Gaming Desktop, Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor 225F, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD on a deal at walmart. Our old pc died and I wanted to be able to do some decent gaming although I know its nowhere near top of the line, it was within budget. Will this monitor do well scaling down to 1080 or 1440 which is what the PC is better suited for and then my monitor situation will be future proofed to a degree? My last monitor isn't even hdmi if that gives you an idea of last time I messed with this stuff.

So unless you are or know someone with an active military or edu account, you can't get it at that price right?

So people who know others who are that would ask them to buy it for them and they then repay them?

Damn, this is nice. One of the best deals recently for a monitor you can use to game at 4K/144 "under" $200.

Yes, you will be able to scale down the resolution to 1080p or 1440p, but that has to be done w/in Windows' display setting.

$200 for a 4k 144hz is wild. For anyone asking, EPP is the employee purchase program, you need a qualifying work email. EDU is .edu. Not something you can just sign up for off the street.
