I don't know what they mean by "professional," but keep in mind that it is only 1,000W. Even 1,200W 1400W models were frequently on sale for around $50 at major retailers just a few years ago. I don't know what's going on with Ninja, but it looks like they have raised their prices significantly.
I'd look for a 1,400W model. A 1,000W blender would be too weak if you regularly make thick green smoothies. Also, the blades on these can go dull quickly, which would make the experience even more frustrating.
There are other brands you may want to consider as well. If you make dense green smoothies, look for a 6-blade system rather than just 4 blades, and aim for at least 1,400W of power.

What would you recommend instead? Im looking to get one for my girlfriend for christmas? Id like to keep it under $200 if possible.

I got this Calphalon on a deal listed here in August 2023 for less than $50. I recently started using it after my fourth Ninja failure, and I am amazed at how well it performs with my very thick green smoothies.
It completely pulverizes everything into a smooth, flowing liquid—no chunks, no graininess, and no debris. And the surprising part is that I'm getting these results using only the lower settings.
I just checked my original Amazon purchase and was surprised to see that this blender is only 900W. Hopefully, it continues to hold up, but at this point, I am definitely not going back to Ninja.
The funny thing is that this same blender is now selling for around $155, which is quite a jump from the less-than-$50 price I paid in 2023.
For anyone dealing with thick green smoothies, this has been a surprisingly impressive blender in my experience.
