4,000sqft....Good deal for small property, but let's keep in mind it was always 5,000sqft...paying the same for less product is the corporate game everywhere nowadays

Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard is a fall lawn fertilizer that greens up grass quickly and is easy to spread, with no clumps and solid packaging on arrival. The larger bag also worked well with a hand crank spreader and was reported to help strengthen turf heading into winter. The main drawback is coverage, since this version is 4,000 square feet instead of the older 5,000 square foot bag at the same price, and the deal is blocked in some delivery states. It is a practical option if the smaller coverage still fits your yard.

  • Homeowners with a small lawn, because the 4,000-square-foot coverage can fit a modest yard without needing extra bags.

    NoStoneUnturnedMark42mcFangolio

  • Gardeners who want fertilizer that spreads evenly after rain, because the granules can disperse well once moisture hits them.

    energyxNickH6927

  • People comparing lawn fertilizer by coverage cost, because the per-square-foot price can still beat big-box alternatives.

    TealStep446energyx

  • Buyers using a hand crank spreader, because the granules can go through it cleanly without clumping.

    PurpleWalrus455

  • Homeowners with larger lawns, because the 4,000-square-foot coverage can force extra bags and erase the savings.

    Mark42mcFangolio

  • Shoppers expecting the same coverage as the older version, because the bag now covers 4,000 square feet instead of 5,000.

    NoStoneUnturnedFangolio

  • People in states with shipping restrictions, because delivery can be blocked to the selected address.

    SlickMethos

  • Buyers who need a specific quantity that is not a multiple of 63, because the order quantity can only be entered in 63-bag increments.

I mean, I get what you are saying but have had mixed results with Menards in the past. The graduals are large and do not seem to adsorb and spread as nicely as the Scotts brand. This is my observation only.

I get that, but as long as it rains, it will spread. By the time it gets to the roots where it needs to be, it's dispersed. I can't pay over 2x for that minor difference.

I wouldn't pay to have it shipped. Just posting an option for those with local stores.

It ends up being expensive for me. I worked it out because it only does 4,000 square foot. I would need three bags instead of two bags like I usually get so it ends up being just as much or more

Used to be 5,000 sq ft, now 4,000 for the same money. Calling it: next one covers 3,500

Like swallowing poison to pay for 4,000 sq ft vs 5,000 but...still less than Home Depot cost per sq.ft...

The 12,000 foot bag is also on sale. I bought one about 2 weeks ago and it greened up the grass already and hopefully will make it stronger over the winter. I live in SW Pennsylvania.

Amazon shipped it in a really strong outer bag and it got here without any damage.

There were no clumps in the contents at all and I just used a hand crank spreader.

I was going to buy at Lowes and it was a lot more expensive.

Cheers.
