McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning in the 7 pound container is a versatile, long lasting pantry staple that goes well beyond steak. It works on pork, ground beef, burgers, roasts, chicken, and even everyday foods like vegetables, pasta, rice, soup, eggs, beans, salad, and sauces. The bulk size makes sense for heavy use, though the container is awkward without smaller bottles or mason jars for decanting. The blend is salt forward and may slowly lose flavor over time, making it a practical seasoning for frequent use.

  • The seasoning works well on burgers and roasts for everyday grilling and cooking.

  • The seasoning can be used on pork, ground beef, and whole roasted chicken.

  • The primarily salt-based blend may not truly expire, though flavor can fade gradually.

  • The 7-lb container can reduce awkwardness versus keeping multiple small bottles on hand.

  • The coupon can require checkout timing and may be limited by an expiry date.

  • The flavor may gradually lose intensity over time even if the spices do not truly expire.

  • The deal price may be far below typical wholesale pricing, which can signal unusual availability.

When you folks get it post the expiration date for future reference. I've been burned so many times by amazon on great deals only to find after delivery it was item close to expiration.
Spices don't really "expire" though, especially one like this that is primarily salt. They just start to lose flavor.

Love it on steaks. Anyone have suggestions on what other foods it goes well with?
It's terrific on burgers and even roasts.

Why does the product have a picture that shows me it is already half empty? I guess they aren't even trying to hide" shrink-flation" now?
It's based on weight versus volume.

expiration dates are a joke unless it is a perishable item. even most prescriptions are good 7 years after the expiration date

Sysco charges $80 for this
stop buying Sysco products. Your customers will thank you.

Everytime im at a restaurant and I even think about ordering an appetizer, I have to remind myself that the chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, etc are probably the same Sysco garbage that the festival food truck, diners, and countless other restaurants are probably using too.

Yes.

Basically, anything you put s&p and garlic on/in. Veggies, pasta, rice, soup, eggs, beans, salad, sauces...

Aside from salt yes they do. Spices oxidize when old & have very little flavor
