Kinda not amazing. Had one, returned it, I'd rather have a plug-in that's way more powerful and cheaper. I guess at $45 it's not too bad, it should compete with the $50 aliexpress cordless ones

I bought a corded heat gun on Amazon for around $16 a few years ago, and it works well. The main drawback is the stiff power cord, which can be a bit of a pain to manage. That's understandable given the power these tools draw.

Back in June, I picked up the RIDGID 18V 900°F cordless heat gun when Home Depot was clearing it out for $64.50, including the 2ah battery and charger. I've used it a couple of times. It's definitely not as powerful as my corded heat gun, but that hasn't been a problem for the jobs I use it for.

What surprised me is the potential noticeable performance difference as mentioned above. Since RYOBI and RIDGID power tools are both associated with the same parent company, TTI, I expected their cordless heat guns to perform more similarly. However, I understand that sharing a parent company doesn't necessarily mean they use the same design, components, or manufacturing facilities.

I would think $45 is not a bad price if you have Ryobi platform and this is for light projects.

Thanks OP. I have this item in my cart for months now on the HD site. Just hesitant to pull the trigger at $75.

Needed this for work related minor needs. Getting tired of using cigarette lighters to do the work.

None of these cordless heat guns compete with a similar corded heat gun. There are some that work better than others but in general they will disappoint you if you believe it will run like your corded version. They do have a use but it is limited. I use mine in the garage for removing decals, electric heat shrink tubing, and even outside when I'm working on a drip system. (Heats the 1/2"'hose and makes it easier to put on fittings. These guns will not remove paint on your doorway (maybe but time consuming) they will not tighten the shrink wrap on pallets, timely, etc. Batteries don't last long as the tool has to 1) heat the element 2) blow out the air also. The airflow is minimum compared to a hair dryer. Just things to keep in mind.
