EDIT: EXPIRED NOW (10/18/2026)

Not knocking the price but the gray is $17.22 on AE right now, and that is before coupons. Ships from China though. Says "Only 10 left" (I assume at that price). And it is $10-ish if you collect 'coins' and buy that way.

P.S. I have bought the same controller from the same seller. Very happy with it but I'd rather the XBOX button layout. I still use it in the Xbox mode though.

What's the current status on paying import duties and taxes? I've lost track.. I stopped ordering direct from China last year

Ive bought multiple controllers on AE in the last month and was not charged taxes or impost fees but they do add a fee that is less than CA tax.

None are charged to the buyer. I believe the supreme court derailed the crazed tariff charger in chief.

I bought 2 of these years ago and haven't looked back. It is used with nes, snes, gba (gameboy player), and when I want to play something on my phone. It feels very comfortable in my hand, though if you have really large hands it might not be the best for you.

These are probably great if you want something really close to an SNES controller. But modern controllers are much more comfortable and they don't hamper the nostalgia factor for me.

This is functionally the same layout as a PS5 controller and has most bells and whistles you could wish for at the price point. Not sure how much modern you can get.

FWIW, I have a bunch of controllers and this is my preferred for size, layout, and shape for home use. I might like the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C or RGP01 better if they weren't so cramped but I think they do that for portability....even if the overall design for either misses that mark. IMO at least.

Truth be told, I lean towards the IINE Retro Pocket Game Chronos just for the sake of portability. This is way too 'full size' for that use case, especially with the protruding analogs. I tend to pack the IINE with my tablet and that ends up being my go to 99% of the time.

You're lucky to get 2-4% off with coins. No way a 40% discount is reproducible.

it depends on the region. IT IS reproducible in NJ.

That's not how 'coins' work, it isn't a lotto system. Currently (like as I type this) the controller shows $17.15, then takes 29% off (that changes daily, but applies to all users), AE is then calculating the coins off as $4.98 for an OTD (including NC sales tax) for $13.05.

FWIW, the way to find these is make sure you are logged into AE, view the item(S) you are interested in (view a bunch and from different sellers because not SKU's and listings are on the coin page). After you do that, go to the coin page, go to "viewed" and keep scrolling*. You'll likely see the same listings over and over again but different sellers (even if they are all the same parent company) for the same item will have different discounts. And be aware, you can see the same item at different prices and discounts, for example, I also see this same controller a the top of the viewed section for $44.69 - 2% coins. There are multiple listings.

*you can also search using the inside the coin section search function but that way takes....nuance and patience since the search function is janky. If I search "8Bitdo" under the "viewed tab" (after viewing the item on normal AE of course), I see the discounted SKU of this exact controller about 2-3 pages down of scrolling, from this exact seller, at $17.15 - $4.98 as described above.

Amen, Super repeatable. There are entire reddit subs almost devoted to the process. And personally I think "region" is by country. If you are a US mainland ship to, you should qualify for US targeted deals.

I don't think any of these flat / 'pocket' controllers have analog triggers because of the short throw. But would be nice to be sure.

Yeah never reproducible on any electronics where I am. 4% max. Definitely a YMMV thing.
