We've had it for 10 months and cannot recommend it. I'm moving back to FIOS. The speeds are too variable, and the server switching can cause problems with gaming. For a casual user it's fine, but if use it for work or gaming, it's not ideal. HIGHLY location dependent, but we went from "awesome" to "unacceptable" in about 2-3 months. They've probably oversold their capacity.

The server switching issue was my biggest problem also. I was using it for semi work. However, every time the server switched my POS system would go offline unless I restarted it. Same for my security camera system. I could not view it remotely unless I restarted it.

If you're considering home Internet via T-Mobile, should also consider via Mint which leverages T-Mobile for slightly lower price: $30/mo (12mo price if also a Mint phone customer). They provide a TM internet gateway device which connects easily to a home router/mesh. I've personally verified download speeds consistently at 900mbps+ (upload around 100) and after the 1TB cap speeds get throttled to ~100mbps. It's not for everyone but hard pressed to find a better setup in rural areas where there is no broadband wired provider.

Only see $35/mo, deal dead? Clicked the link to "Rely plan" and the $30/mo plan flashed and redirected to the general plans page

I had T-Mobile 5G home internet for 3 years till September.
They were 800mbps 3 years ago then go down hill to under 5mbps with capped speed if you use more than 1tb or so. I updated 3 cpes before cancellations. They just over sold too many of these. And became tiers of service while everything is slower and jam packed. I tried the new $70 plan before total cancellations and it's was faster and this home internet has taxes and fees. That's crazy for internet. I won't recommend this.

Had T-Mobile for 5 years. Service went to sh*t in May of this year. Dropped connections. Varying speeds. Talked to a level II tech and he said that T-Mobile Home Internet users get whatever bandwidth is left. They give preference to mobile phone users. Fine for occasional users but anything more than that find something else.

They basically pay you to try it if you keep it 60 days and get the $100/$200 gift card.
As others have said, highly location dependent. Go to Cellmapper and see how close to a tower you are. Within a half mile or so and clear line of sight is ideal.

I got the Rely plan for $20/month back in March, before they started Throttling the Rely plan to 354Mbps. I keep it as a backup to my 1gb Spectrum/Cox cable internet, waiting for the day they double my price and I cancel, but it is much more stable and lower latency then my T-Mobile Home Internet. I get anywhere from 100-500Mbps down/5-20Mbps up, but loaded latency is high if you do any online gaming or video conferencing. It can be lowered with a separate router using SQM.

***You have to search their website to see that the Rely plan is now speed throttled to 354Mbps, they don't make that clear.
Under "Got Questions/How fast is 5G home internet (in Mbps) compared to cable?"
"T-Mobile Rely Home Internet customers delivering typical download speeds between 170 mbps – 354 mbps, with speeds up to 354 mbps."

I've had it for nearly two years. What started out as a great deal with very good speeds has really gone south for me. It really is YMMV I think mostly based on your location, proximity to tower, etc. When I first got it I was getting 200mps or more all day/night. Now it has become almost unusable during the day 10-20mps down and really unusable during the evening at less than 10mps. Frequent disconnects. Customer support, when I am able to get someone to help keeps telling me turn off the modem/router and turn it back on again. This seldom helps. I'm trying to find the box they sent me the modem/router in so I can take it back and cancel. The only good thing now is the occasional good perk from TMobile Life app.

Yep, just what I needed to know. Thanks for that, FIOS remains.

Can it be used in a car? If a small cell phone can get the signal, then a bigger device should get better signal, right?

If you play video games, forgot T-Mobile 5G internet. The ping is through the roof and the PlayStation 5 struggles with utilizing the internet from T-Mobile because it gets throttled for some reason...

They really want to market this as a replacement for home internet and it can be but only under certain circumstances. It is not good for gaming but there was no chance it would be, or any other mobile network ISP for that matter. Even regular cable internet might not cut it in many areas for latency intensive applications.

Still, for those who already use tmo or plan to sign up, it's hard to beat $35/mo for casual browsing and Netflix, in areas with good coverage at least. Many people don't have high requirements and just need basic connectivity. We have this on our family plan, for this price, and bring it for internet visiting our friends cabin (which tmo says you're not supposed to do, but we have been for a few days a month for a couple years, successfully) and at home it is the fallback connection if quantum fiber (previously centurylink) goes down. That has only happened twice in more than 5 years but the most recent time I was glad to have it. Ubiquiti router switched me to the fallback connection seamlessly.
