The shape of this is exactly what I was thinking of.. whole house vac mounted in the garage. Every time I see a house with whole house vac hookups in the walls it's a nice touch/ extra fancy things

If you're truly looking, I believe Prolux makes one (and also a garage vac). I have their backpack vacuum and it is a very good vacuum, I highly recommend the brand.

Has anyone put in the garage attic with a hose reel on the garage ceiling?

I'm sure you could, but would need to add to it I'm sure.Alternatively, the dewalt stealth sonic is highly regarded as one of the best options for dust collection using a shop vac. It's also on sale for $150 (6.5hp one).

How do you wrap the hose nice and neat?

I'm sure it could be adapted but the cost in whole house is all the plumbing and electrical (each connector in a room has wiring also to turn it on).

And since HEPA filters, whole home vacuums are irrelevant. Having used one a few times, they were terrible. Dragging around 30 feet of hose and attachments is way worse than a simple upright.
