Anyone have any tips on how to take care of prelit trees? I got one second hand and the lights dont work...
Absolutely have a tip! This comes from a person with decades of experience decorating trees and spent a good 7 year stint with a major Christmas manufacturer.
NEVER. BUY. A. PRE-LIT. TREE! There are two components to your tree. The tree itself - branch count, tip count, tree type, style and shape, height, etc. Then there are the lights - count, size, spread, features, etc. Your tree? Will never break if taken care of properly. Your lights? Will break, inevitability, no matter how careful you care for them.
Buy an unlit tree as an investment. Buy lights separately so when they go bad, you can switch them out. Your tree remains pristine. You can stay flexible with lights.

Merry Christmas!!
Disagree entirely. What a hassle to string lights, and they always looks much worse than pre lit. The lights are going to last much longer than the tree is going to look good for. No one should be putting up a 10 year old tree.
If something happens, just have basically electrical knowledge and can figure out how the tree is wired, and diagnose either a cut wire or dead lamp and fix it very easily.
