I wish that they would do a similar deal at Disneyland. Disneyland is a 7 hour train ride from my house. If they made their hotels cheaper to stay at, I might be tempted to stay on property.

Depends, but I don't think I've seen anyone I work with report less than about $4000 for a family of four when staying on one of the resort properties, and that's for the "affordable" ones that are in less demand--if you're staying at a Princess property, you might spend twice that much, and some properties you can't even reserve without being in a very expensive member's only club...

They also increased ticket prices recently. A 5-day park hopper pass is like $650 per person.

I have soured on Disneyworld..the costs have skyrocketed and the amount of rides you can get on in a day with exorbitant food prices just is not worth it IMHO

We're no longer their $$$ target. They want the thousand dollar a day crowds.

You don't really need to stay on property at Disneyland. There's a lot of hotels that are essentially closer to the park than the Disney ones. It's not like Disneyworld

√This. I have multiple coworkers planning upcoming family Disney trips that are estimating $20,000+. In the K-shaped economy Disney World has realized it's much more efficient for them to cater to 1 family that is going to spend $1,000 per person per day than to 10 families that are going to spend $100 per person per day. The math just doesn't math for the average family; in many cases you could take your family on multiple weeklong cruises, or even take them across the world, for what you will spend taking your family on a domestic trip to Disney World for less than a week. And you will be far more relaxed on either of those alternative vacations because it won't feel like the work that Disney World has become where you feel like you have to cram in everything you possibly can to justify what you're spending.

Culturally we need to move on from the concept that a Disney trip is a rite of passage for a family. There are far better options.

I'm the husband of a Disney adult. We have a kid. We are vets and I am a huge data nerd. Disney world bare bones two people and a kid runs right at 4k with vet discounts and deals. Not a vet? That's like 5k. Eating at the park is where the cash catches fire. On paper, I hate doing this crap every year-but my girls love it and I love them. Good luck to you all and I can't figure out how to budget for the fast passes. Those are expensive as hell too and dictate how your day goes. Shooting for 4k landed me just short of 6k after all the BS. I get mad thinking about it but it was fun whatever.

Realistically around 7-10k for a family of 4 minimum for 4 days.

I go to Disneyland/World pretty much every year for the past 20 years. If you need some answers feel free to DM me and I can help you out. No I'm not a travel agent, but many people make many mistakes when planning a trip to the World.
