I have both but W+ on my name and Sams+ in SO's name, so can't link them for refund 😂
Edit: just linked both accounts from W+ app. All it asked was Sam's Club login/pwd and issued refund for prorated W+ membership. I had used Amex offer for W+, so Amex may take back the credit but I'll still get some back. So that's a win.
Community Reviews
This bundle ties Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus into one annual membership, and the main draw is getting both perks with a simple account link and, in many cases, a prorated refund on the unused Walmart+ portion. The linking process is often described as quick through the Walmart or Sam's app, with some accounts showing instant access and refunds ranging from a few dollars to much larger amounts. Pricing can be inconsistent, though, with some seeing the advertised add on price while others are quoted much higher charges or lose a separate renewal offer. It also appears to conflict with some existing discounts and billing setups, so the final cost depends heavily on account timing and eligibility.
Linking Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus can trigger an instant prorated Walmart+ refund after account connection.
Account linking can complete through in-app prompts and may show Walmart+ as included without extra signup steps.
Existing Sam's Club Plus members can get Walmart+ included through the promo flow without an additional cost at linking.
Some shoppers report that the bundled memberships align expiration timing with Sam's Club Plus renewal dates.
Upgrade and checkout pricing can differ from the advertised add-on amount, with charges showing $48, $53.11, or $58 plus tax.
Renewal pricing can change after linking, including cases where the $49 Walmart+ renewal offer disappears and renewal becomes $120 for both.
Linking may affect American Express statement credits for Walmart+, while Sam's Club Plus continues to be billed annually in full.
The promo can conflict with other membership discounts, including the inability to combine with the 50+ senior membership discount.

I tried linking the two off the announcement page in OP and it wanted to charge me $120/year. So the deal isn't really gonna work for Amex Platinum members, since the WM+ offer is for monthly payment, not annual payment. Too bad, woulda been a nice side perk to get a sams club membership for only an extra $22 a year.
I'm in a rural area, so other memberships like Target 360 and Kroger Boost are basically worthless. And Costco is way too far away to make it a regular trip. I've gotten my money's worth out of both Walmart and Sam's Club Plus memberships, but I did sign up for AARP a while back to get discounted Walmart+. But hey, I'll take free!
