I have both but W+ on my name and Sams+ in SO's name, so can't link them for refund 😂
Edit: just linked both accounts from W+ app. All it asked was Sam's Club login/pwd and issued refund for prorated W+ membership. I had used Amex offer for W+, so Amex may take back the credit but I'll still get some back. So that's a win.

This bundle ties Walmart Plus and Sam's Club Plus into one annual membership, and the strongest draw is that linking can unlock both services with a prorated Walmart Plus refund. The flow often starts from the Walmart or Sam's app, and several accounts linked cleanly once the login details matched. Reported refunds range from a few dollars to well over $70, but the upgrade price is inconsistent and can show $48 to $58, $78 with tax, or the full $120. It also appears to replace some existing promos, including Amex credits and the Walmart 50 plus senior discount, so the final math depends on the account setup.
Account linking can trigger an instant prorated Walmart+ refund after entering Sam's Club login details.
Existing Sam's Club Plus members can link Walmart+ through the Sam's app pop-up without an extra charge.
Walmart+ benefits can appear immediately after linking accounts in the Walmart app experience.
The bundled plan can align renewal timing so Walmart+ expires when Sam's Club Plus expires unless re-signed.
Upgrade pricing can mismatch expectations, with some flows showing an upgrade "as little as $22" but charging around $48.
Renewal offers for Walmart+ can disappear after linking, and some accounts end up charging full bundled renewal amounts.
Prorated Walmart+ refunds can be much smaller than expected, including cases showing only a $7 refund or a $4.06 refund.
Linking may affect American Express statement credits, even though Walmart+ is provided as part of the bundle.

I tried linking the two off the announcement page in OP and it wanted to charge me $120/year. So the deal isn't really gonna work for Amex Platinum members, since the WM+ offer is for monthly payment, not annual payment. Too bad, woulda been a nice side perk to get a sams club membership for only an extra $22 a year.
I'm in a rural area, so other memberships like Target 360 and Kroger Boost are basically worthless. And Costco is way too far away to make it a regular trip. I've gotten my money's worth out of both Walmart and Sam's Club Plus memberships, but I did sign up for AARP a while back to get discounted Walmart+. But hey, I'll take free!
