I had this exact mesh system and it bricked itself after a few months of use when a firmware check hung and the router was bricked by an endless initial setup loop. I called Netgear for help (thinking that a 6 month old router should not do this) and they only offered to have it checked if I agreed to an annual service plan which cost around 1/3-1/2 of the router price new.

It went to the trash and I bought a different brand. Last Netgear product I'll ever buy. You can buy a better, faster and easier to use system with better app integration and a dedicated 6 GHz wirless backhaul for slightly more than the price of this refurb which would probably have even worse support if that's even possible.

I have exactly the same system for last 3 years, and it is going strong. I have probably rebooted it a couple f times in last 3 years but that is it. Very low maintenance and works great.

Just installed the Orbi 770 a couple weeks ago and so far it's been great.

This product is at End of Service. ALWAYS check if networking gear is at EOL/EOS before buying.

https://www.netgear.com/about/eos/#search-eos

No updates provided beyond 7/15/2026.

No OpenWRT support that I am aware of.

https://toh.openwrt.org/?view=nor...del=RBK763

Not a deal, just someone offloading soon to be useless product.

I had a similar issue with this router. It worked fine the first year, then during the second year it rebooted everyday at the same time. I suspect Netgear pushed an update that was causing the reboot issue. Tried searching various online forums and tried a few suggestions, but none of them worked. Scrapped the routers and bought the Google Nest Pro and have had no issues.
