Various Retailers have The Road by Cormac McCarthy (eBook, Vintage International) on sale for $1.99.

Thanks to Deal Editor powerfuldoppler for finding this deal.

Available from the following retailers: About this Book:
  • A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food—and each other.

One of the best I've read. Don't recommend reading it with a 2 year old son in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, though.

Best book from the last 50 years. Read it more than a dozen times. Movie is also great with arguably a better ending for the movie crowd.

This was McCarthys love letter to his son. The world is bleak and full of dangers, or so it seems to the father, often hes right and often he makes mistakes. Best thing the movie did was visually convey the difference in viewpoint when the boy moves on. Book still better.
