This propane weed burner is a simple, low cost tool for torching weeds and other small growth, with a piezo igniter that lights easily and a flame strong enough for patio cleanup, cobwebs, and even lighting a ground level fire pit or barbecue. It works best on dry, broad leaf weeds and can kill plants by briefly heating the base rather than burning everything down. Green, stubborn, or taller weeds may take repeat passes and use a lot of propane, so fire safety matters and the flame can be hard to judge in daylight.

Common Questions (5)

  • It works better on broad-leaf weeds, wild violets, dandelions, and clovers, but some tougher or taller weeds may need multiple sessions or may resist it. Dry weeds are easier to kill than green ones, which can take more propane and time.

  • It can be used to burn cobwebs indoors and to light a ground-level BBQ or fire pit. It is also useful for chemical-free weed control without digging up roots.

  • It lights fine and burns well for patio weeds and growth, and it is described as solid for the price. It can work best when used on the base of the plant rather than trying to incinerate the whole weed.

  • It produces a lot of heat, so a water bucket nearby is a sensible precaution and the flame is easier to judge at dusk or after dark. It is useful for weed control, but the visible flame can be more dangerous than it looks in daylight.

  • The igniter is a simple piezoelectric clicker that works well: open the fuel knob, then click to spark. It can also be lit with an external flame source if needed.

I didn't intend to be a weed torch advocate, but this thing worked so well for me this summer.
So, here it is.

You don't need to incinerate the whole weed plant to get rid of it.
Only a small part in the base needs to be "cooked" enough for the whole plant to die.
Focus the flame at the base for few seconds and then move on.
The next day, you'll see the plant start to wither and die off.
This is a weed control method that doesn't use chemicals and doesn't require you to dig up roots.
Put on your hat, grab a beer, and start torching the terrible weed in your yard.

Yes, these work (not necessarily this one -- I have a shorter one), but it depends on the weed. May require a couple sessions, too. It seems to torch wild violets pretty well. Some other stuff came back on the driveway but then died at the 2nd attempt. These tall, prickly things in the backyard are impervious though, despite a good expenditure of fuel.

Drag it out at dusk or after dark for an awesome show! I used it several times in full daylight and didn't realize that I couldn't see the extent of the flame until I used it at night. It'll give you an appreciation for how dangerous it can be, also.

I actually have this one .. it's solid. Works well. I have a patio that gets a lot of weeds and growth in it ( I rent so I'm not putting a ton of work into it) it lights fine, burns well . Nothing major about it .. works as it should and for $10 - I grabbed another
