If you're not familiar with the Legend of Heroes games, there are a lot of them, and they're all connected. This isn't like Final Fantasy. That doesn't mean you have to play every single game from the first one, but you do need to play the sub-series (for lack of a better term) games. What I mean by that is The Legend of Heroes is the title of the overall series, but there's always another name attached, such as Trails Beyond the Horizon. You need to play the first game in a sub-series in order to understand what is going on. In this case, you need to play Trails Through Daybreak 1 & 2 in order to know what's going on in this one. You can go back and play other sub-series, like the Trails of Cold Steel games or one of the other set of games in the series, like Trails in the Sky, and they'll basically act as prequels. Sorry if this is confusing. My point is, whichever sub-series of games you start with, you'll just want to start with the first game in each series. So, don't start with this if you haven't played the Daybreak games. Google the series to get a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

100%. I'll add the recommendation to start with the trails in the sky remakes as they're fantastic, modernized jrpgs.

Isn't Horizon the 13th game in the series? I've played Sky and Sky SC (originals, not the remakes) via Steam. I own Sky 3rd, also through Steam but haven't played it. I picked up the Switch 2 Zero/Azure bundle, but I have a long way to go before Horizon so I think I'm holding off on this one. I know there's arcs, but I mean you don't start anime and such like 4 arcs in.

I actually started with the Trails of Cold Steel arc. Then I played Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, and then Trails into Reverie (which is part of Cold Steel, but came out much later) then the Daybreak games (which include this one), then I played the Trails in the Sky 1st chapter remake. Lol. So, I was all over the place, as far as order of arcs. I still need to grab the Trails in the Sky 2nd chapter remake that recently came out.
