all these retail "sales" are inconsequential. This route was actually $29/day all-inclusive

Didn't book this, but in general: Ncl has cheaper cruise fares but Ncl has higher gratuities vs other cruise lines. It starts at $20 per day vs $16 for other cruise lines. I got the $50 excursion credit per day per cabin, but they also charge $50 more on the cruise fare. Only worth it if you book more than 1 excursion. Seems Ncl excursions are more expensive too vs other cruise lines.

The only company that I see that charges $16 is Disney. All the others charge more up to $22/person/day for standard cabins. As for customer satisfaction, Norwegian seems to be just OK.

Wow, I'm surprised that Disney is on the low end of gratuities. Only been with Carnival, Royal and NCL.

Daily Gratuities by Cruise Line from google, I highlighted the base gratuities

• Carnival Cruise Line: $16.00 to $18.00 per person, per day
• Celebrity Cruises: $18.00 (standard), $19.00 (Concierge/AquaClass), to $23.00 (The Retreat suites) per person, per day
• Disney Cruise Line: $16.00 (standard rooms) to $27.25 (Concierge suites) per person, per night
• Holland America Line: $17.00 (standard) to $19.00 (suites) per person, per day
• Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL): $20.00 (standard/balcony) to $25.00 (The Haven/suites) per person, per day
• MSC Cruises: $16.00 to $20.00 per person, per day (varies by ship and itinerary)
• Princess Cruises: $17.00 (interior/oceanview/balcony), $18.00 (mini-suite/reserve), to $19.00 (suites) per person, per day
• Royal Caribbean International: $18.50 (standard staterooms) to $21.00 (suites) per person, per day

more irrelevant info in the topic. No such thing as mandatory gratuities on cruises. And gratuities mentioned for NCL are for totally optional specialty dining. Bottom line: there are currently a dozen NCL cruises that are possible to book under $40/day, including all taxes/gratuities. Only NEVER book at any cruiseline. Book only at Agent who provides you with Agent rates. My group enjoys group rates on all cruises; once on ship, there is no need to do anything grouplike. Enjoy your cruise any way you want, just don't overpay to book any of your cruises
