For a first timer do you have any cheaper recommendations?

Like Trent sent, most people prefer the previous model airsense 10, and it's a hair cheaper too.

Do we think it will go lower? Looks like the best deal on these has been around $499

You can also unlock features like BiPAP on the 10 https://airbreak.dev

Last BF, 10 was ~$400 and 11 was ~500 IIRC.

Benefit of this is you can ship it out to someone to give you ASV or bipap capability

I know there's this weird retro CPAP cult that says the older version is better, but having used the 9, 10 and 11, I can tell you that I prefer the 11. Some of the 10 fans call out (physical buttons, the hose outlet, etc) haven't made a difference to me. My 11 does seem quieter, and I like the smaller form factor. It also uses slightly less power, which is useful if you're planning on using it on a battery, but I use my AirMini if I plan on using a battery.

Do u need a prescription to buy? I want an update but it's such a pain to get a prescription cuz they want a doctors appointment and then a sleep study and feels like months away.

Used cpap sounds yuck. To each their own. But it's like I'm sharing a breath with a stranger...
