It's a bit too basic. It doesn't look like it supports MP3 CDs. Even a Walkman in the early, early 2000s had MP3 CD support.

Also no headphone jack. CD players like this might be ideal for an elderly relative who can't figure out smartphones and bluetooth headphones to listen to music, but they also may not hear well and need some wired headphones. Some reviewers say the volume doesn't go very loud, either. The price is great, but if mom or grandma can't hear it and there's no option for headphones, this might not be the cd player for them.

The question section replies:

"Yes, the PROSCAN Elite Portable CD Boombox plays MP3 CDs. It supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats, so you can burn MP3s onto a disc and play them through this boombox."

Some reviewers say mp3 cds work and others say they don't, I'd suspect it does work. If it weren't for the low volume many report and lack of a headphone jack, I'd try this for my mom and give it a shot that there's a good chance the burned cds I have for her would work on it.
