Have one of these, latest firmware. It turns off on its own while actively playing things, extremely frustrating. The sound itself is strong, but with the shutoff problems it usually sits. Very happy with the longevity and sound from Bose Micro speakers, and they finally added a USB-C revision. Those don't shut off without good cause.

I'll second this shutoff issue. It is extremely frustrating. I'm a bit of a speaker junkie and own or have owned tons of different Bluetooth speakers and audio equipment over the years. I got my Clip 5 almost 2 years ago (Nov '24) during a Black Friday deal from JBL with a free custom image for $50. It's a great speaker and (and the custom image feature JBL does FAR exceeded my expectations). Unfortunately, it hasn't ever had the absolute best battery life (mediocre) and now will randomly turn off while playing content. I don't use it every day so I only recently noticed this problem. I actually assumed it had just died when it happened a few days ago but I checked the settings and it had more than half a charge so it is definitely a firmware issue.
There are tons of great speakers out there that 9/10 people would be more than happy with so when JBL charges premium prices and drops the ball like this, it is frustrating. If you want to hold out for a firmware fix, this is a really great sounding speaker. Just know that there is a lot of competition out there that may provide superior battery life and make most folks just as happy with sound quality unless you plan to blast this at max volume all day
