Ridgid's new 18V 8.0Ah EX Max Output tabless battery pack stands out for higher output and strong value at about $10 per amp hour. The orange P version is the newly released tabless model, unlike the earlier 8Ah EXP pack with the gray P and 21700 cells. The flat positive and negative sides reflect the tabless design, which is meant to improve power delivery. Standalone batteries now qualify for lifetime service agreement coverage, and the larger capacity should stretch runtime on thirsty tools like vacuums and lights.

  • The batteries-only purchase reportedly qualifies for LSA even when it does not include a charger or another tool.

  • Tabless battery design can provide better power output using more internal connections instead of relying on only two tabs.

  • The 8.0Ah tabless variant is identified by an orange "P" marking in the EXP line, distinguishing it from the older non-tabless 8Ah EXP.

  • Flat battery sides may make the pack easier to fit and handle compared with designs that include a protruding side.

  • Runtime expectations depend on the tool load, since a portable vac reportedly runs about 15 minutes on a 6.0Ah battery.

  • LSA coverage may depend on whether the batteries came in a kit, since lifetime coverage can vary by purchase context.

  • In-store availability can be inconvenient because the batteries may not appear on the shelf or in the battery cage until they are live.

  • The tabless 8.0Ah variant is newly released, so prior 8Ah EXP packs may not match the tabless design being sold.

I'm looking forward to trying on my portable vac. Love the vac, but only lasts 15min with 6.0. As a comparison, this price is the same as on dewalt 8.0 and cheaper that one forge 8.0
If the 6.0Ah gets 15 minutes, the 8.0Ah should be about 20 at the same draw.

At $179 per 2-pack, replacing your EV's battery using power tool packs would cost about $59,786!

What does "tabless" actually mean?
Both positive and negative sides of the batteries are flat, instead of having the little protrusion sticking out on one side.

Had to speak with multiple associates to find these as there wasn't a place on the shelf, or in the battery lockdown cage. They checked inventory and it supposedly wasn't supposed to be live yet. Found one associate that went to overstock up top and opened the box for me. Great deal for 8.0ah batteries for Ridgid.
Exactally same experience! one associate went to the top of shelf and grab one for me.
