While this is cool, it's kind of pricey in this day and age of these retro handhelds. Sure, its physical and no fuss cartridge, but it almost feels like an inconvenience to have to have a physical backlog now and at a not so friendly entry price

There are a lot of better emulator handhelds out there. Look up Retroid, anbernic, Ayn, many more.

I agree. The Nintendo 64 launched in 1996 for $199, offering cutting edge technology at the time. Now, 30 years later, we're paying the same price to play games from that era. The processing power needed costs a fraction of what it did back then. I understand inflation and licensing, but you'd think three decades of technological advancement would make retro gaming significantly cheaper.

That's right, $199 was worth exactly the same in 1996 as it is today.

Basically this requires zero configuration to work well. You put the cartridge in, and play. Plus in the case of the Banjo games, they were re-worked by Rare to play well in a 16x9 aspect ratio and at 60FPS. Everything is licensed (legal), you keep the physical copy of the game that does not require online access (but can be patched online if need be), and the support from Blaze Entertainment seems pretty solid. I own an Odin 3, Retroid Pocket 5, RG 35XX Pro and a couple others, but the ease of use for N64 games and probably others coming down the pike was worth it for me to buy into this ecosystem. Plus I want to support what Evercade is doing when you've got the likes of Sony saying physical media is done.

Evercade is great. Got the original years ago and everything just works. One of my old UX designers ended up recommending some changes to them and they ended up hiring him on the side to do work on their UI. Makes me want to support the product more, knowing someone that worked on it. Hah.

All these digital slaves will never understand the appeal of Evercade or Modretro. Some of us want to actually own our old games, and not have to rely on crappy emulators. If you don't like this type of thing, don't buy it. There are tons of us who will.

Evercade is a emulator though. They are just able to better monetarize the emulator because they sell you the game on carts.

Bro ski I've been playing emulators since 1998 and I can honestly say since about 2003 they have been perfect
