Amazon Grocery chicken broth is a low cost pantry staple for soups, rice, and other dishes, with the chicken broth listed as the first ingredient. The broth is described as flavorful enough to make rice hard to go back from, and the less sodium version is also included in the same deal. The main caution is sodium, since the regular broth is noted at 39 percent sodium per cup and called pretty salty. The promotion also appears to be temporarily unavailable to some shoppers.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes. It is described as pretty salty, and cats do not need extra sodium in their food. If you want to add moisture or flavor for a pet, a low-sodium option is safer.

  • Yes. A 35% less sodium variety is also on sale, and the less-sodium version is available with the same deal.

  • It is described as essentially the same as College Inn unless you buy low-sodium or unsalted broth. The main practical difference is the sodium level, not the basic use in cooking.

  • Yes. It is specifically praised for rice, with the broth adding enough flavor that plain water may not taste as good afterward.

It's almost like people don't understand that broth is just flavored salt water.

Gez, do you guys drink this straight? It's for adding some flavor to soup and dishes.

No, it's not just "flavored" salt water. I worked on a evaporator for broth production once. What's left over from the cutting room ended up in hot water filled channel then the water is concentrated by an evaporator.

I inject it between my toes so there are no track marks on my arms.

Would this be too much sodium to use for putting a little on cat food?...

Personally wouldn't put any extra sodium on their food and this is pretty salty
