I was looking at these yesterday, and luckily found a PAL Grey color with damaged packaging.

Wish they didn't make this backwards compatible. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Bummer that this isn't a physical connection. Looks comfortable in terms of ergonomics, but I'd prefer to not have to charge this or deal with any potential latency since I'd only ever use it in handheld mode

It is backwards compatible. It has a little bottom bar that you slide in for the Switch one.

Everything you want to do you have to take it off your switch. I personally and reviews I've seen show how unstable/loose it is if you don't use the connector. Basically if you hold it with one hand your switch 2 pops out if you aren't holding it flat. The back crank design is really flawed and no matter how little or more you tighten the switch 2 is basically only making contact on the corners of the device thus making it easy to pop out.
The connector is super tight in your device which is a good thing to keep the entire thing together but also makes it impossible to unplug to charge the nitro deck because theres no power passthrough so you have to take the entire thing off also near impossible to change games with it on.
Ergonomics and joysticks are fine but its incredibly heavy.

I much prefer the Abxylute N6. No battery or latency to deal with and feels exceptionally solid since it's all a "one piece" slide-in design.

Yeah, these is reviewed incredibllllllly poorly. there isn't really a good alternative switch control option right now. I have the nyxi 3 and they broke after less than hour of use. I have the abxylute controller as well and it's just plain uncomfortable to use.
