Please look at video reviews of this. It has a metal kickstand ring and a large rear speaker. I have 2 of these and you will not find better audio on any tablet ever made.
Podcasts, voice, newscasts, TV/Movie dialog, etc... They all sound loud and clear without needing headphones.
You will have to live with the weight. I think it's the only downside. It is heavy but most of the time you are using the kickstand/ring that you can also use to hang this on door knobs and cabinet knobs. Great to use as a handle when moving it around.
You can use this as a bluetooth speaker as well. I.E. it will pair via bluetooth as a bluetooth speaker.
Performance is great as long as you don't play heavy 3D games. It's fast and responsive for non-3D apps/games.
Only caveat is you only get OS updates to Android 18 and 4 years of security updates. Lenovo reserves it's 5-6 year OS updates for its high end tablets. As with most Lenovo tablets the build quality is superb.
Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 stands out as a media tablet, with a 12.1 inch 2.5K 120Hz LCD, loud clear rear speakers, and a built in kickstand ring that makes it easy to prop up or carry. The audio is strong enough for podcasts, news, dialog, and video watching, and the tablet can even pair as a Bluetooth speaker. Performance feels fast for everyday apps and streaming, but the Dimensity 7400 and USB 2.0 are more midrange than flagship, and heavy 3D gaming can expose limits. Software support is shorter than Samsung rivals, so it suits entertainment first and gaming or long update cycles less well.
Video watchers who want loud, clear built-in audio, because the speakers make podcasts, news, and movie dialogue easy to hear without headphones.
The software update commitment is limited to Android 18 and four years of security updates, while Lenovo reserves longer OS updates for high-end tablets.
The tablet's rear speakers are a standout feature: they play podcasts, news, TV, and movie dialog loud and clear without headphones. It can also pair as a Bluetooth speaker, making it especially useful for media-first use.
The tablet is expected to receive Android 18 plus 4 years of security updates. Lenovo reserves longer 5- to 6-year OS support for its higher-end tablets.
For watching videos and other media, it is a strong value because the speakers and kickstand are the main strengths, and the $269.99 price is a substantial discount from the announced $399.99 starting price. The LCD panel and midrange processor matter less if your priority is screen, sound, and smooth playback rather than gaming.
It handles normal apps and lighter games well, but the Dimensity 7400 can show its limits in heavy 3D games, especially at this screen resolution. It is a better fit for video, browsing, and other consumption than demanding gaming.
It's cheaper, but how is it better. The 12 inch Pro Amazon tablet uses Dimensity 8400 which is one generation ahead than this, and you can get up to 16gb of RAM

This posted a little late as i just got a used Tab S8+ off fleabay. Just for the weight, I'll stick with the Samsung...
The headline "2.5K, 120Hz, 8GB/256GB" sounds flagship-like, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Lenovo uses an LCD rather than AMOLED, a midrange processor, and USB 2.0 rather than Samsung's more capable USB-C connection. It puts more emphasis on speakers and the kickstand.
Its announced starting price was $399.99, so $280 is a substantial discount, but not an implausible one.news.lenovo+2
Also, the Lenovo's Dolby Vision/HDR10 labels do not automatically make its picture better than the Samsung's AMOLED. Panel technology and contrast matter alongside resolution and refresh rate

270, what else you expect? Samsung is great, but all the tab s are over $550. $270 for a tablet with 8gb ram 2.5k 120hz screen is a steal

Thank you for this review. I already have a tablet, but I also love watching old concerts in my hot tub. I was so happy when this came and I saw the speaker. Not loud enough to wake the neighbors, but perfect for what I needed.
I need 8" android. I have the mini iPad and I love the size in struggling to find android tablet in that size with great performances.
I don't want to buy Chinese brand.

The tablet is heavy, and weight becomes the main practical downside during everyday use.
The software update commitment is limited to Android 18 and four years of security updates, while Lenovo reserves longer OS updates for high-end tablets.
The display and connectivity tradeoffs include an LCD panel instead of AMOLED and USB 2.0 instead of more capable USB-C.
