The Magnus CAS "Lion" paddle is a beautiful paddle. It always gets a second or third glance whenever it's on the court. However, the carbon abrasion surface (CAS) means it's a spray on abrasion to give it its grittiness which unfortunately means it will wear down much faster than a raw carbon fiber weave surface, therefore the CAS will lose its grip and spin on the ball much faster. Also, the shorter handle on the Magnus will favor those from a ping pong background who do a one-handed backhand only, but those who want to learn the "twoey" are better of getting the elongated paddles. In summary, If you want a paddle to show off and perform well on spins for just a couple months, get the Magnus CAS, if you want more durable spin, control and two-handed backhands, get an elongated carbon fiber paddle.

I have this paddle, bought it a couple of years ago when it was on sale for prime day. This better is great for when you start but you grow out of it quickly. No grit on the face of the paddle. I'm trying to sell mine now.
