Pyle's 48 inch under desk cable tray is a flexible way to corral power bricks and cords without permanently drilling into the desk. The clamp style keeps the desk surface intact, stays fairly unobtrusive, and makes it easy to rearrange accessories as the setup changes. It also pairs well with a desk clamp power strip for a more complete cable management layout. The main knocks are that it can feel cheap or weak for the price, the open design does not hide cables as cleanly as a closed box, and there are reports of awkward handling and even a faulty outlet. A practical option if flexibility matters more than a polished look.

  • The tray can help organize cables while keeping desk accessories flexible to rearrange later.

  • The clamp-style setup can be practical without making the desk hardware very noticeable.

  • The tray may work well for users who want to avoid screwing everything in for setup changes.

  • A DIY gutter-and-bracket build can offer a cheaper custom-length cable tray option.

  • The tray may not hide cables cleanly when cables are tucked away under the desk.

  • The tray can feel weak and not worth the current price despite being made of steel.

  • Handling and managing items in the tray can be difficult enough to feel like a nightmare.

  • The tray can arrive with defects, including a non-working port and unusual outlet sizes.

Can the clamps clear a desk with a metal support crossbar underneath, or does it need a completely flat overhang at the back edge?

I looked at that at the store and it seemed kind of janky and cheap.
It is and even though it's made of steel, still feels weak. Definitely not $15 but when I got it years ago, it was less than $5.

It looks like it's sagging even in their photos.

Between the massive clamps on your desktop and the giant black bag with "PYLE" emblazoned on it, I think I'd prefer the cable mess...
These are well hidden if you have a desk up against a wall

You can always pick up 4-5" gutters from the hardware store (or sometimes free from roofing companies) along with L brackets, screws and nuts to make your own in whatever length you want. Does require some tools but can be done for cheaper than this.

You just need a few of those massive AC adapters, surge protectors and cables seen in the pictures to change your mind.

Not really. I've got clamps all around my desk: the front, the sides, the back, and you really don't notice the clamps really, especially not in the back. It's just really a useful and practical way to put things on your desk and move them where you want, and to preserve the long term quality of your desk.
Why not just buy a desk for your desk? Sounds like you have a desk that doesn't suit your needs so you've littered it with junk to compensate.
