The Aspire 16 AI stands out as a strong value for a thin and light laptop, pairing the Core Ultra 7 256V and Intel Arc 140V graphics with a 120Hz anti glare touchscreen and very good battery life. The chip is described as efficient and capable for older games, lighter modern titles, web browsing, Zoom, and everyday work. The main tradeoffs are the soldered 16GB memory and the 512GB SSD, which may feel tight for heavier storage needs. Costco also adds a two year warranty and 90 day return window, making it a solid long term option if those limits fit your use.

  • Students and office workers needing a fast everyday laptop, because the processor is efficient, the battery life is strong, and web browsing or Zoom runs well.

  • Shoppers who need a capable laptop without paying for 32GB RAM, because the 16GB configuration is strong value and the CPU is still very capable.

  • Casual gamers playing older PC titles, because the integrated graphics can handle pre-2020 games at higher frame rates and newer games at playable settings with upscaling.

  • Long-term buyers who want a thin-and-light machine to keep for years, because the better processor and integrated graphics make it a stronger value over time.

  • Upgraders who want to add more memory later, because the RAM is soldered and the memory is on the CPU package.

  • Power users who keep large local libraries, because the 512GB SSD can fill quickly once Windows and downloads are installed.

  • Linux users depending on USB-C peripherals, because newer kernels can spam logs and may fail to mount a USB-C NVMe enclosure.

  • Gamers who want broad Intel game optimization, because fewer titles are tuned for Intel graphics than for Radeon.

How is the build quality on this?
Curious as well, is this all metal or metal top and plastic body?

I HIGHLY recommend this laptop. I have the weaker variant which is the Acer Aspire 14. It has a Core Ultra 5 226V instead of this slightly more powerful Core Ultra 7 256V. I got mine $450 refurbished from the ebay Acer store (it came in perfect condition) and it had a 1TB SSD.
This deal is SO tempting... Got that same Aspire 14 (Core-Ultra 5 226v) from Costco last year as a Xmas gift for my parents ($450+tax NEW), and it is indeed a very capable little laptop. I almost wanted to keep it for meself as it was overkill for what they'd use it for... mainly basic web and word processing stuff, but then again I didn't want them to have to buy a new one for a while.

They probably been more than happy with a Window "S" Acer Aspire Go 15 that I got later from woot for like $240+tax, but I decided to just make that a travel linux workstation laptop for myself and not to have to deal with "slow laptop" complaints/help requests later on.

I just got a Acer Aspire 14 AI 14" WUXGA Intel Ultra 9 288V 32GB RAM 1TB SSD Arc 140V Refurb for $719. 400 nits 60 hz display. Two year Allstate/ Squaretrade warranty included. Should I swap for this Costco deal instead? I dont really need the extra ram for a Plex server. https://www.ebay.com/itm/277574166311 We bought another one of these in 16" and it was brand new just like the description indicates. CPU is almost the same , 5.6% better single thread performance on the Ultra 9.

I mean if you don't need the 32 Gbs, then yeah pretty much? I would rather have yours though in general.

Quick glance yeah, probably better. About the only thing you get with it is 1TB SSD vs 512, if that matters look into upgrade paths with this one. If it doesn't then this one is just better.

140v igpu is on par with AMD radeon 780m. 780m = Z1 Extreme
last year some of us on SD bought openbox Lenovo yoga variant of this laptop from bestbuy minus the 120hz screen for $350 before tax...
I think drawback is that there aren't many games that's optimized for Intel GPUs.
On the other hand, there are tons for Radeon.

My computer just crapped out and I don't see anything better for this price point in the Costco Black Friday ad.

Thanks op!

Seems like a surprisingly good deal. Having a hard time finding definitive answers to a couple of key questions, though.

I'm pretty sure most Lunar Lake laptops have soldered RAM, and I think this one does as well...but the Acer product specs page for this model says it has a standard configuration of 16GB of RAM and a max of 32. Not sure what to make of that-- upgradable RAM would be a pretty valuable detail.

I also can't figure out how many or what type of SSD slot(s) it has.

Anybody able to confirm from somewhere reliable what the answers are on these?

How does this compare to Costco Black Friday deals? Looking for a laptop for my college aged son. Thanks.
