This Acer Aspire 16 AI looks like a strong thin and light laptop for everyday use, battery life, and light to moderate gaming. The Core Ultra 7 256V and Arc 140V graphics are described as very efficient, with performance close to AMD Radeon 780M class integrated graphics and enough power for older games at higher settings, while newer titles can still be playable with XeSS. The 16 inch 120Hz IPS touchscreen is also called a standout for the price. The main limits are soldered 16GB RAM and a reported USB C issue on newer Linux kernels, so it suits buyers who can live with fixed memory and 512GB storage.

Common Questions (4)

  • The Intel Arc Graphics 140V is strong for an integrated GPU and is roughly on par with AMD Radeon 780M. It can handle older games at 1080p to 1440p with higher framerates, while newer demanding games may still be playable around 30-50 fps with XeSS and the right settings.

  • No, the 16GB LPDDR5X memory is soldered/on-package and is not upgradeable. That makes the 16GB configuration a hard limit, so it is best suited for buyers who are comfortable with that amount long term.

  • Yes: the Costco price is $599.99 for members, with free shipping and a limit of 2 per member. It was described as about $300 below the usual $899.99 listing, making it a strong value for the Ultra 7 256V, 120Hz IPS touchscreen, and Wi‑Fi 7 specs.

  • The USB-C ports can trigger log spam on Linux, and on newer kernels they may also prevent mounting some USB-C NVMe enclosures. The issue is specific enough that it matters if you plan to use the laptop as a Linux machine or rely on external NVMe storage over USB-C.

This is an extremely good deal right now. Reasonably powerful and very efficient CPU. Graphics are nearly as good as the best mainstream Ryzen iGPUs and much more efficient. The screen has great specs for an IPS. RAM of course isn't upgradeable, though.

Edit: Anyone interested in running Linux on this should be aware that there's an issue with the USB-C ports on this and other Acer laptops. Mostly just creates log spam, but for me also prevents mounting a type-c NVME enclosure on a kernel newer than 6.14.

If it meets your needs yes. I PERSONALLY won't buy anything with soldered ram under 32 GBs, but GL finding 32 gigs of ram for under like 800 bucks.

10 years probably play on ultra lol. 5 years, high for most, medium for some, but very good framerates on those.

Yeah, I was curious because I hadn't looked into the 256V, and you aren't kidding it is crazy good for the wattage.

Costco, no reason to keep it in the box. Just realize it doesn't have the "forever" return policy of other costco products.

Neither is this 2025, nor is Lenovo Yoga a "variant" of this laptop, nor is this open box.

I HIGHLY recommend this laptop. I have the weaker variant which is the Acer Aspire 14. It has a Core Ultra 5 226V instead of this slightly more powerful Core Ultra 7 256V. I got mine $450 refurbished from the ebay Acer store (it came in perfect condition) and it had a 1TB SSD.

To my point, the Core Ultra 7 256V and its integrated GPU (Intel Arc Graphics 140V) are very capable of playing older games (pre-2020) at higher framerates with resolutions between 1080p - 1440p. Newer, more graphically demanding games (such as Unreal Engine 5 games) are also playable at 30-50fps framerates thanks to Intel Arc's AI upscaler called XeSS (similar to DLSS).

The battery life on these are INCREDIBLE. This laptop also has a 120hz screen compared to mine which has a 60hz screen. The screen is easily the weakest part of my laptop but the screen on this one should be better and a little brighter. This laptop paired with a VRR gaming monitor is very capable of playing everything but the most demanding modern games. I personally use my PS5 for the newer demanding games because it is a more powerful machine than this laptop but for everything else I prefer to play on this laptop.

Yeah. I've got the Ultra 5 14 inch variant of this. Overall a pretty solid laptop for the price when I picked it up. These Ultra V chips aren't the fastest CPUs being only 4p/4e but they are very efficient and the chip was aimed at the sort of premium thin and light laptop segment. The memory is on the CPU package so they can't downgrade these to 8gb machines. The iGPUs are on par with pretty any apu that isn't specifically a huge APU like Strix Halo, the big Panther Lake iGPU or Nvidia's new Spark laptops. Not a gaming monster but certainly capable of gaming at the appropriate settings especially in older games.
