This brought back memories! I had one that I used all the time in third grade through fifth; the texture of it changed to where the eraser became softer probably from the oils on my hands. Instead of eraser crumbs from a fresh eraser it would be one long piece. Also, it wouldn't make scratchy noises against the paper!
