Our local HD was cleaned out almost immediately. A nother nearby still had a bunch of stuff on shelves.

I would caveat that many MANY things are sold out depending on your area. For me, most say 'See Similar'

They're not necessarily "sold out" in your area. The problem is that there's a limit of 50 of each item per order online, and you can be damn well sure that resellers and even certain retailers are buying that quantity to sell next year. Mine only had 1 item available for online ordering, but the actual store still had a few dozen SKUs on display.

This. Went to 2 different HD and 2 different Lowe's this weekend and there was almost zero Halloween stuff at any of them.

My local HD showed dozens of items in stock for in store purchase only. When I arrived at the store I was surprised to find one small rack with some Halloween theme Scub Daddy scrubbers, a few Bluey projector lights and two Oogie Boogie illuminated lawn decorations. Not complaining, just mentioning it as a heads up that store inventory may not be accurate online this late in the season.
