Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

They just announced cuts to storage. Instead of 1TB per user x 6 users = 6TB, in May the plan will be cut to 2TB shared amongst ALL users! You cannot buy now to prevent the cut, ALL accounts will be affected.

Glad you brought this up. 5+ years ago there were NewEgg Deals ~$30 to buy individual subscriptions and stack up to 7 years then convert to family for like $20 extra

That is finally expiring for me early next year. Anyone know the best hacks to extend this? Can we convert back to individual plans, stack and convert?

Microsoft seems to have shut down the Xbox Live similar hack to stack 3 years of XBL and then spend like $1-10 for a month of Gamepass Ultimate to convert all 3 years to GPU. Mine expired earlier this year and now no way to do that one again so I'm done with Xbox. So seems like they've caught on to all these stacking methods or just were ok with it in the past to lure customers in for the long term.

That can be good or bad. In my family, I'm pretty much the only one who seriously uses OneDrive, so I get a boost from 1TB to 2TB of storage.

Does that mean it's impossible to buy a code from another vendor and renew with it?

Probably? I'll be honest with you, I forget, I just remember I delt with this years ago and something was a pain and I told myself "never use these codes again" unless it was newegg, I think their codes were ok, but BB and Amazon switch control/management of your account to them.

Also not seeing this deal anyways, shows as $129 for me. So maybe plus members only or targeted ???

No, it's mostly bad. Under the old setup, you could have created an extra account for yourself, shared the folder, and then had 2 TB for yourself that way.

They claim that this will take affect the first renewal after May 2027. The thinking is that if you've already stacked beyond that, you'll keep the 6 TB through that. Now if you were to add a year now from a new purchase, it's not known what effect that would have. Would you get the 6 TB through your original renewal and then it would switch after that? Would it switch right away since adding the code could count as a renewal? Or would it be a loophole to continue your grandfathered status?
