I remember buying this bundle for 679 with better RAM/motherboard back in March and thinking I massively overpaid. Things aren't going to get better, and this is a good deal if you want to build a gaming PC today.

This doesn't feel overpaying at all to me. I built my 5900x in 2022. $450 CPU, $180 DDR4, $180 motherboard (higher end model ASUS).

My only concern would this bundle would be the quality of the MB. But I'm sure it's perfectly good enough.

Just as a note they also have the Intel 250K+ and 270K+ bundles with the same 32GB kit of RAM, priced at $530 and $630 (up $30 from a few weeks ago):
https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ild-bundle

The 32GB RAM all by itself makes up the majority of the above pricing, buying it elsewhere you'll pay $450-550, or more depending what exactly you get.

Given the price difference, I'd personally go (and did go) with the 270K+ since gaming wise you're probably not going to notice any a difference without benchmarking side by side.. and from an encoding/productivity standpoint the 270K+ is generally more capable. I've been pretty happy with it, made for a solid/substantial upgrade from my ~6 yr old Ryzen 5900X

how much memory did you get? I remember 32GB being kind of easy to find for $60 or less unless you wanted B die or something similar

Not a bad deal if you are close to a MC. I'm optimistic there will be even better deals as we get closer to BF.

Nothing, yet... currently 'mothballed', sitting around just in case something happens to the new setup.

The supply chain is going to be sitting on massive hardware inventory eventually..
Oversupply of cpu/mobo in particular in the ddr5 gen hit intel so hard it tanked their stock price.

That MSI Motherboard only has PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for GPU and (2) m.2 slots

$30 more gets newer 9850X3D and ASUS B850E TUF Gaming WiFi6E with PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and (3) m.2 slots.

This isn't so bad for a new build. 2024 isn't coming back, but this is about a tolerable starting point for a new build as we can likely hope for before the crash.

I'm 20 minutes from IBM, Redhat, Lenovo, Cisco, Oracle, Epic Games, large Apple and Google campuses... Gamers Nexus... Etc... but the closest Microcenter is 3+ hours away, and it just opened a couple years ago.
