This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 UFF is a compact workhorse with strong memory for the price, especially the 32GB RAM and Windows 11 Pro. The i5 1145G7 is laptop class and not a powerhouse, but the specs are still better than many similarly priced mini PCs or refurbs. It was designed to mount on the back of Dell monitors, can run on USB C power delivery, and has multiple USB ports. The main cautions are the soldered CPU, the limited upgrade path, and reports that the SSD or replacement parts may be lower quality. It is a decent fit if the unusual form factor and modest CPU are enough.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is a strong value for a compact homelab box because 32GB RAM is uncommon at this price, but the i5-1145G7 is a laptop-class CPU and the I/O limits it to lighter or mostly single-purpose workloads. It is better for modest services than for future-proofing or heavy CPU-bound tasks.

  • No, the i5-1145G7 is soldered to the mainboard, so the CPU is not user-upgradable. The practical upgrade path is memory and storage, not the processor.

  • It is essentially a headless laptop-style PC designed to mount on the back of Dell monitors for an all-in-one setup. It can still be used as a small desktop, but the unusual form factor matters if you plan to place it separately.

  • It is commonly expected to include the power supply/cords, but this model was originally designed to be powered through a compatible Dell monitor, so some units may ship without a separate adapter. Check the listing carefully before buying if you need standalone power.

  • Yes, it uses SODIMM memory and can be upgraded to 64GB. The included 32GB is already strong for the price, but the platform can take more if you need it.

It's like any place on the internet. Voting is about how people feel, not logic or truth. I recently criticized a deal. I was corrected. I said i was wrong. Pretty rare around here. Pretty rare around anywhere.
You should see nextdoor and the midterms. I have too much low IQ people in my city. I think laptop deal is better for a little more. Get an extra screen if you just dock it as well.

Third party refurbishers do it to reduce costs and increase margin. Supposedly it's better business.
You have no proof or validation to back that statement up, so better not comment fabricated stuff. This is being sold by Newegg, not some random third-party seller; and even then, reputable sellers don't ever do this.

Went on Amazon and ordered for $238. Probably the same refurbisher.

It's sold by Newegg but refurbished by Walmart refurbishers. Let's see what RAM brand people report having in their systems. That would be proof. The OEM SSD is also likely to have been replaced by an inferior which is why it fails after a few months of use. I only trust manufacturer refurbished.

lol what?

it's ddr4 sodimm. It's not that valuable, and you're not going to overclock it or anything.

and doing all that for a 256gb ssd? seriously?

I don't trust anything that says refurbished because most don't even test it let alone do something like replace fans inside and clean the motherboard because that would cost a couple bucks and take time. Just send it out and see if gets returned again. Then send it out again.
