This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 UFF is a compact workhorse with strong memory for the price, especially the 32GB RAM and Windows 11 Pro. The i5 1145G7 is laptop class and not a powerhouse, but the specs are still better than many similarly priced mini PCs or refurbs. It was designed to mount on the back of Dell monitors, can run on USB C power delivery, and has multiple USB ports. The main cautions are the soldered CPU, the limited upgrade path, and reports that the SSD or replacement parts may be lower quality. It is a decent fit if the unusual form factor and modest CPU are enough.

  • The 32GB RAM configuration can help support homelab workloads like Home Assistant, Frigate, and a local NAS.

  • The OptiPlex 7090 UFF design can fit on the back of Dell monitors for an all-in-one style setup.

    dattguy

  • The system can run power delivery through USB-C, which can simplify cabling for some setups.

    StewartWenger

  • The unit includes multiple USB ports, which can support everyday peripherals for homelab use.

    drew2money

  • The CPU is soldered to the mainboard, which limits user upgrade options for long-term performance.

    CharlieC9067HonestCircle906CharlieC9067

  • The refurb SSD quality may be low and can fail quickly, which creates reliability risk for storage.

    c0bra99BlueRaccoon1085

  • Ordering can fail due to out-of-stock cancellations or late notices, which can disrupt deal timing.

    the.barbrRjt24yo

  • The UFF form factor can require a special offset VESA mount for TV mounting, and pricing for that mount may be hard to find.

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
SHUSH! I was actually looking at adding these to my home cluster.

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.
CPU soldered to mainboard

Meh, most of them are more expensive and without the 1 year warranty.

They have been on-and-off available for this price all year. Not a deal worth gatekeeping, but a decent deal nonetheless.

Dell may have discontinued this product line fwiw
Yes, the OptiPlex 7090 Ultra has been discontinued.
Also, I was looking for how to mount the 7090 to the back of a TV, and there's a recommended/special offset VESA mount, part # 0W8VV, but can't actually find pricing for it on the Dell website or other places on amazon, eBay

Barring quality issues, the i/o limits this build from anything that isn't mostly single use. The ram costs as much as the pc, though

*"edit** the Walmart page didn't show the thunderbolt clearly

This CPU is very mid and lackluster but the 32gb of RAM help. You generally won't find 32gb of RAM in this price range ever. That being said, I wouldn't purchase this strictly because the CPU is such a bottleneck, especially for future proofing.
